Creamy Dahi Wale Chole - Tangy Yogurt Chickpea Curry - Vegetarian Indian Comfort Dish

Ingredients
- Chickpeas - 4 cups cooked or 4-8oz. cans
- Yogurt - 1 cup
- Onions - 1/2 cup (chopped)
- Tomatoes - 1 medium (pureed)
- Green Chilies - 2 -3 qty
- Ginger/Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
- Salt - 1 1/2 tsp
- Kashmiri Red Chili Powder - 1 1/2 tsp
- Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
- Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
- Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
- Chole Masala Powder - 1 tsp
- Mustard oil - 3 - 4 Tbsp
- Cilantro - garnish

Instructions
PRO TIP: Soak chickpeas overnight. Pressure cook with water, bay leaf, cardamom, cinnamon and salt for about 5-6 whistles.
1) In a blender jar, add 1 cup yogurt and 3-4 Tbsp cooked chickpeas and blend. Set aside.
2) In a medium size pot, heat 3-4 Tbsp of mustard oil, add 1 tsp cumin seeds and let it crackle for a minute.
3) Add 1/2 cup chopped onions and 2-3 slit green chilies. Sauté until golden brown.
4) Add 1 tsp ginger/garlic paste and cook for 1 minute. Add 1 tomato puree and cook until some of the oil starts to separate.
5) Add 1 1/2 tsp salt or to taste, 1 1/2 tsp kashmiri chili powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, 1/4 turmeric powder, 1 tsp chole masala powder, mix all spices and let it cook for a minute or so.
6) Add the chickpea and yogurt paste from earlier, mix and cook until oil comes to the top.
7) Add remaining cooked chickpeas and some water if needed. Simmer for another 5-7 minutes.
8) Garnish with some chole masala and chopped green chilies and fresh cilantro. Cover and let it cook for a minute.
9) Serve with White Rice, Naan or Paratha.
